In creating a digital painting, the original photo is used as a basis, then brush strokes are added, varying the colors, eliminating details, and adding items as needed; then the whole is re-edited in Photoshop. You can see more examples

Oh, clever stuff - I can see you're very practised at that.
After your explanation of how it's done, I'm a little less in the dark in understanding the process involved...but I still think you have to possess innate talent to turn out the paintings you do!
